The Future Tense
To express actions that will happen in the future using imperfective verbs, you typically form it by combining a future form of the verb být ('to be') with the infinitive (the base form, ending in -t) of the main verb. Alternatively, for perfective verbs, you use a simple future tense form (one word).
- Compound Future ('Být' + Infinitive - for imperfective verbs): budu, budeš, bude, budeme, budete, budou + Infinitive
- Simple Future (for perfective verbs): Formed from the present tense stem of the perfective verb.
- Examples (Compound Future - imperfective): Já budu číst knihu (I will read a book). Ty budeš mluvit s ním (You will talk with him). Ona bude pracovat zítra (She will work tomorrow). My budeme psát (We will write). Oni budou sledovat film (They will watch a film).
- Examples (Simple Future - perfective): Já přečtu knihu (I will read a book). Ty řekneš mu (You will tell him). Ona udělá to (She will do it).
