Verb Conjugations (Present Tense - Imperfective)
Imperfective verbs describe actions that are ongoing, repeated, or not completed. In the present tense, Slovak verbs follow various conjugation patterns based on their stem and infinitive ending.
-ať conjugation: Includes verbs like čítať (to read), pracovať (to work). Endings: -am, -áš, -á, -áme, -áte, -ajú.
- Example: čítať -> Ja čítam (I read/am reading), Ty čítaš (You read/am reading), On/Ona/Ono číta (He/She/It reads/is reading), My čítame (We read/are reading), Vy čítate (You read/are reading), Oni/Ony čítajú (They read/are reading).
-iť conjugation: Includes verbs like hovoriť (to speak), vidieť (to see). Endings: -ím, -íš, -í, -íme, -íte, -ia.
- Example: hovoriť -> Ja hovorím (I speak/am speaking), Ty hovoríš (You speak/are speaking), On/Ona/Ono hovorí (He/She/It speaks/is speaking), My hovoríme (We speak/are speaking), Vy hovoríte (You speak/are speaking), Oni/Ony hovoria (They speak/are speaking).
