The Future Tense
To express actions that will happen in the future using imperfective verbs, you typically form it by combining a future form of the verb byť ('to be') with the infinitive (the base form, ending in -ť) of the main verb. Alternatively, for perfective verbs, you use a simple future tense form (one word).
- Compound Future ('byť' + Infinitive - for imperfective verbs): budem, budeš, bude, budeme, budete, budú + Infinitive
- Simple Future (for perfective verbs): Formed from the present tense stem of the perfective verb.
- Examples (Compound Future - imperfective): Ja budem čítať knihu (I will read a book). Ty budeš hovoriť s ním (You will talk with him). Ona bude pracovať zajtra (She will work tomorrow). My budeme písať (We will write). Oni budú pozerať film (They will watch a film).
- Examples (Simple Future - perfective): Ja prečítam knihu (I will read a book). Ty povieš mu (You will tell him). Ona urobí to (She will do it).
