Easy Comparisons: Wyży and Niż

To make simple comparisons meaning 'more than' or 'taller/higher than', you often use a comparative adjective (like 'lepij' - better, 'wiyncy' - more) followed by the word niż (than). The word wyży is the comparative form of wysoki (tall/high) and means 'higher' or 'taller'.

  • Using niż: Moja ksiůnżka je ciekawszo niż twoja (My book is more interesting than yours). Łon je starszy niż jo (He is older than me).
  • Using wyży: Ta góra je wyży niż tyn kopec (That mountain is higher than that hill). Łon skoczył wyży niż norma (He jumped higher than the norm).
